Description

Angama Mara: Suspended in the Heart of Kenya's Wilderness

Perched atop the Oloololo Escarpment, Angama Mara offers breathtaking views that stretch across the vast Maasai Mara plains, 1,000 feet below. Inspired by the Swahili word for "suspended in mid-air," this luxurious lodge promises unparalleled vistas from every corner, making it the ultimate destination for those seeking a unique and unforgettable safari experience.

Location & Setting
Angama Mara is set on a 700-hectare site directly bordering the Mara Triangle, offering 1.2 kilometres of Rift Valley frontage, private forests, and abundant wildlife. The lodge’s location, where some of the most iconic scenes from Out of Africa were filmed, evokes a dreamlike sense of being suspended between heaven and earth.

Accommodation
The lodge comprises two identical camps, each featuring 15 luxurious tented suites. Every suite offers 11-meter-wide floor-to-ceiling glass fronts, ensuring that no tent has the best or worst view—all are equally spectacular. With over 100 square meters of space, including a private deck, these suites are designed for comfort and immersion in the stunning surroundings.

Facilities
Angama Mara offers a 12-meter rim-flow swimming pool overlooking the Mara, perfect for relaxing with a book in the sun. The adjacent Fitness Room, with its floor-to-ceiling glass doors, offers an unrivalled view while you work out. The Safari Shop and Beading Studio allow guests to take home a piece of Africa, with locally made items and custom beaded creations by Maasai artisans.

The Map Room & Mara Experiences
The Map Room serves as the lodge's hub for orientation, education, and safari planning, offering a deeper understanding of the Maasai Mara ecosystem. Guests can enjoy a variety of experiences, from hot-air balloon safaris and game drives to nature walks along the Great Rift Valley and indulging in local cuisine.

Access & Travel
Angama Mara is easily accessible, just a 45-minute flight from Nairobi, with multiple daily flights from Wilson Airport. Private charters from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport are also available for added convenience.
