Tsavo
Tsavo National Park, comprised of Tsavo East and Tsavo West, is the largest national park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world, covering nearly 22,000 km². Located between Nairobi and Mombasa in Coast Province, Tsavo is split by the railway that runs from Mombasa into the interior of Kenya. Tsavo East, one of Kenya's oldest parks, spans 13,747 km² and features flat, dry plains, the Galana River, the Yatta Plateau, and Lugard Falls. In contrast, the 9,065 km² Tsavo West is more mountainous and wetter, with swamps, Lake Jipe, and Mzima Springs. It is renowned for its birdlife and large mammals like black rhinos, elephants, and lions. Both parks offer a range of accommodation options, many with nearby waterholes for easy game viewing. Tsavo East is accessible via gates like Manyani and Voi, while Tsavo West can be accessed through gates such as Mtito and Man Eaters.
